Our Range of Cast Iron Butterfly Valves

Cast Iron Butterfly Valves are used in pipelines such as water lines, glycol lines, sewer lines and less frequently in hygienic lines.

These valves are called butterfly valves because internally they have a slimline disc that controls the flow. The Butterfly Valve is classified as a quarter-turn valve and can allow for a quick shutoff, as well as opening and closing incrementally due to its multi position trigger action handle.

The valves have a cast iron valve body and handle, with a full 316 stainless disc and stem, and are supplied with an EPDM Seal. The way the valve works means that product never comes in contact with the cast iron as the seal is sandwiched between the flanges that go either side of the valve.

We stock our Cast Iron butterfly valves in 2 configurations; Lugged & Wafer. Lugged butterfly valves have threaded lugs on the valve body to align with the flange holes, meaning flanges can be directly bolted to the valve.  Lugged butterfly valves are available to suit Table E, ANSI150 & PN10-16. Wafer butterfly valves are designed to be sandwiched tightly between two flanges and can work with a variety of flange standards. With a wafer valve, a longer bolt or threaded rod is used that passes right through both flanges and the valve, pulling the flanges together and holding the valve in place.

Gearboxes are available to enable the valve to be operated by turning a wheel – this is useful in high pressure environments or larger valves where a handle would be hard to be turned.

We have bolt sets available ready to install which suit the Lugged Butterfly Valves. The bolt lengths are calculated for use with our lightweight flat face flanges.
