Concentric vs Eccentric Reducers
Concentric and eccentric reducers are used to join two different sizes of pipe or tube.
Concentric reducers derive their name from their cone-like shape. They have both ends on the same axis, resulting in the smaller section being in the direct centre of the larger section when viewed head-on. This style of reducer is the most common.
On the other hand, eccentric reducers reduce the pipe to one side. They have a straight side and a cone-shaped side, causing the centerline to be offset. When viewed head-on, the smaller section is situated against one side of the larger section. These are particularly helpful on horizontal lines as they aid in proper drainage.
The total length of our reducers are equal to the largest diameter.
We stock butt weld concentric and eccentric reducers to suit tube, Sch10 pipe and Sch40 pipe.
We also have some tube reducers available pre-welded with Tri Clover or RJT Fittings on the ends.
