RAPIDPRESS PRESS-FIT SEALS

RAPIDPRESS PRESS-FIT SEALS

What Are the Unique Features of Rapidpress Press-Fit Seals?

RapidPress seals are available in various materials, including EPDM, FKM, and HNBR.

They are made with a unique, patented, lenticular shape which allows for up to 20% enlargement of the sealing surface area compared to other standard press-fit seals. RapidPress seals also allow for easier pipe insertion due to the flatter surface, which also reduces the risk of the seal being damaged.

Up to 54mm, the RapidPress seal contains small ridges that intentionally create leakage before the seal is pressed. Termed as a “leak-before-press” seal, this feature offers an added layer of security during system start-up. In the event of an unpressed or improperly pressed joint, the seal will visibly leak, providing an immediate visual cue for potential issues that require fixing.

EPDM seals are the standard seals supplied with the RapidPress system and are made from a long lasting synthetic rubber called Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer. They are suitable for potable water, heading & cooling, alcohols, compressed air and certain chemicals. EPDM seals have an operating temperature range from -20 degrees celsius to 120 degrees celsius. They are not suitable for use with oils, greases and fuels. RapidPress EPDM seals are coloured black for quick and easy identification.

FKM seals, also known as Viton Seals, are typically more resistant to higher temperatures, chemicals and oils. FKM is the short name for Fluoro-Elastomer which is the material the seals are made from. The temperature rating of these seals is from -20 degrees celsius to 220 degrees celsius. It is also recommended to use these seals for compressed air applications if there is residual oil over 5 milligrams per cubic metre of air (> 5mg/m3). The FKM seals can easily be identified by their bright green colour.

The yellow HNBR seals are used with our gas rated press-fit system as they are resistant to ageing and heat. HNBR stands for Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber and is also known as Highly Saturated Nitrile or HSN. They are suitable for temperatures between -20°C and +70°C, and for pressures up to a maximum of 70 PSI or 5Bar.
