FAQs

Is Stainless Steel Magnetic?

Stainless Steel 304 is responsive to magnetic fields due to cold work used during thread cuttings.

To avoid making fasteners with magnetic qualities you can reduce the amount of cold work used on a part during thread cutting. The finished fasteners can also be annealed after these processes to reduce magnetic properties. 304 is usually more susceptible to interaction with magnets than 316 also.
