What Is a Test Certificate and How Can I Get One?

A test certificate, also known as a material test report, is a quality assurance document used in the metals industry that certifies a material’s chemical and physical properties.

The Metal Company test certificate certifies a materials compliance with the appropriate ASTM standards, physical specifications and chemical compositions. Details are recorded for individuals parts and batches when manufactured.

If you would like a test certificate it is important that you request when placing an order. This is so the batch numbers and heat numbers are recorded before dispatch. Certification data for all products on your order are consolidated. Relevant data is reproduced and sent within 24 hours of dispatch.

Test certificates are readily available for most products, but there are some that manufacturers do not record adequate information to produce a test certificate. For example, we cannot supply test certificates for camlocks, seals and hose clamps. In this case we can provide a LOC (Letter Of Conformity) which is a formal document of assurance that the products supplied are fit for purpose.
